The next step, one step at a time.
A playbook is the procedure you write for a transition: see what is left to pay, add the payment, check that everything is paid. Each step shows the right fields — some filled in already, some required — and the status follows once the work is done.
Guided steps for every transition
- 1
Open it where the work is
From the next steps a record offers — at the top of the record, or above the grid once its row is selected — from a button on a section or beside a field, or by dropping a card on a board.
- 2
Follow the steps
Each step shows the fields it needs, on the record or on a new linked one, with values carried over and the required ones marked.
- 3
Finish — the status follows
The last step reads the status back: the record has moved to the state its data now gives.
What you get
Write the steps each transition needs — check, add a payment, review — and let your team run them from a status, a button or a board.
Values carried over
A payment starts with what is left to pay and the invoice's currency — change them if the payment differs.
Written once, by you
Steps, fields, conditions and the linked rows a step creates are yours to set — no code.
Steps taken in order
A required field or a condition holds the run where it is until it's met — unless the step is optional.
Guided creation
“New invoice” above the grid creates the row, then walks it through its first steps.
Each status offers its next transitions, and each transition opens a playbook that walks the team through it, step by step — from a row, a button or a card dropped on a board. Alerts watch the deadlines, spaces turn the same data into dashboards, and any view leaves as Excel or CSV.

Frequently asked questions
What can a step do?
Show and edit fields of the record, create a linked record — a payment, a line — list the linked records, and write a value on its own, like the decision a step records.
Can I write my own playbooks?
Yes. In the table's Workflow tab, add a playbook and give it steps — the fields each one shows, a linked row it creates, when it counts as done — then attach it to a transition or a button.
Do new workspaces come with playbooks?
Yes: 38 of them on seven tables — record a payment, a reimbursement or a dispute, link a bank line to its payment, and seven guided creations, from a new invoice to a new quote — ready to use or to adapt.
